I began my teaching career in 1990 at Minne Lusa School. Shortly thereafter, I adopted the motto "When we listen, we learn!" Since that time, I have continued to focus on the skill of listening as a vital component in the learning process. Today, tomorrow and next year, students in Room 12 will continue to demonstrate real listening that is linked to the emphasis I place on learning to listen. Listening, like all skills, takes great practice. With that said, students in Room 12 will work for Proficient and, more importantly, Advanced skills in all academic areas.
The Content Standards in the Omaha Public Schools are set for each grade and subject. Students, throughout the district, are expected to master these standards. In order to accomplish this goal, students must come prepared to work each day. However, to be most successful, a student must continue his/her journey at home with parents or guardians as their teacher/mentor.
