Meet Ms. Barnett

Thank you for visiting our class webpage!  I feel very fortunate to be a 3rd grade teacher at Minne Lusa for the 2017-2018 school year!

I graduated from Peru State College in 2009 with a degree in Elementary Education.  I completed my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction in the summer of 2011.  I received that degree from Peru State as well.

This is my ninth year teaching at Minne Lusa.  In addition to former third grade teaching experience, I've taught second grade and a 3/4 multi-grade classroom.  I love working with the Minne Lusa students, parents, and community.  I attended Omaha Public Schools as a child (Chandler View, Spring Lake, Saratoga, Norris Middle, and South High); therefore, I could not feel more honored and proud to work for OPS as a 3rd grade teacher.

You can expect the following from me:

High Expectations for all Learners
- I firmly believe that our wildest dreams can come true with dedication and effort.  All students can achieve greatness.  Therefore, my expectations for every student are very high!

A Classroom Climate of Mutual Respect - Just as I expect my students to earn my respect, I expect to earn theirs.

Positivity- I strive to create a positive atmosphere in my classroom each and every day.  I cannot expect my students to be positive about learning if I do not model the same level I expect from them.  I promise to come to school each day genuinely motivated and enthusiastic about helping each child reach his or her goals.
