Open Communication Is Important to Us – Community Presentations on Our Proposed 2026-27 Budget

In November 2025 and February 2026, we communicated directly about the budget shortfall we face in the 2026-27 school year.

A miscalculation by the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) means our district will receive $50.6 million less in state aid than we did last school year.

Our district took immediate steps to save money in how we operate, and staff spent months thoughtfully planning a 2026-27 budget that protects teaching and learning in our classrooms.

Throughout the process, we have stressed our commitment to open communication. We are fellow residents, community members and taxpayers. We take our responsibility most seriously.

Ahead of our district’s budget adoption process in September, we will host three community meetings to share updates on the work so far and our preliminary plans for the year ahead.
